MicroMend Pro Skin Closure Device

The microMend Pro Skin Closure Device can be used to close most lacerations and is a great alternative to sutures or surgical staples. The device has the holding strength of sutures and is fast and easy to apply like a bandage. Compared to sutures and staples, the microMend Pro’s patend-pending microstaple technology reduces procedure time and increases the points of contact with the skin along the length of the wound. The application procedure is more comfortable and easier to remove compared to the standard invasive methods of skin closure. MicroMend Pro devices can be applied right next to each other allowing for the closure of wounds of various lengths.

Use microMend without other wound closure devices

• Use as a primary skin closure device for incisions that do not extend below the upper dermis.
• Use after suture or staple removal to extend the duration of closure security.

Use microMend in combination with sutures or staples

• Use for the closure of the upper skin layer in which sutures or staples were used for closure of the deeper skin layers.
• Use as a supplement to sutures or staples for wounds under tension.

Avoid use of microMend for the following closures

• Non-linear jagged wounds.
• Incisions / wounds over areas of flexion such as joints (e.g. knees, elbows).
• Incisions / wounds where there is limited skin surface such as the face, fingers, and toes.
• Incisions / wounds with large amounts of drainage.
• Wounds in unshaven hairy areas.
• Wounds in areas subject to moisture build-up such as axilla and groin.
• Wounds that are infected, cannot be thoroughly cleaned, or contains a foreign body.
